Patrick Villas
Villas has a style of his own, enables him to bring out the various attitudes of his models with accuracy !
He expresses the strength of the cheetah about to attack, he shows its tense muscles under its coat. It is the very moment when the artist meets nature, a moment just long enough for him to capture the essence of its models, e.g. The strength and tension of a carnivore.
Pathick Villas still spends long hours observing and drawing animals and their typical features. He is always attentive to small details and he never overlooks a single curve. In each line, in each work we feel his search for the absolute and for the deep truth of life
Pathick Villas , the sculptor & painter born in Antwerp in 1961, divides his time between his two studios, one in Antwerp and one in the Haute-Marne.
His work already belongs to important public and private collections, both at home and abroad.
His drawing skill and chiefly his exceptional knack of catching the lines and movements of animals induce him quite naturally to achieve sculptures whose never- failing success has been acknowledged for years all over the world.
Today Villas is one of the most famous animal sculptors, with public commissions suxh as e.g the jaguar in the Antwerp zoo and the lifesize Tiger in Cologny, the high life district of Geneva.
